Murina's Story

A few months ago, a story was shared with us – a story from TTF ministry partner, All God’s Children International. A partner since 2020, AGCI is an orphan care ministry that answers God’s call to provide the love and care that every child deserves. In the fall of 2021, the TTF & AGC House of Hope opened as a transitional home to provide urgent care for women and girls separated from their families and living on the streets or in unsafe conditions.
Murina’s story below is not the norm for most of the women living there. But it is no less a miracle.
In February of 2022, a young girl by the name of Murina was living with her aunt in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, so that she could attend school. While out shopping in the market one day, Murina became separated from her aunt. Thankfully, she was found by the police before anything could happen to her. Unfortunately, she didn’t know exactly where her aunt or parents lived.
Because Murina was from a region of the country much further away—a region where a different dialect is spoken—communication between her and the police was also a substantial challenge. But it just so happened that one of the cooks from House of Hope, where Murina was safely sheltered while separated, was originally from that very same region. He immediately enlisted the help of his family and friends from back home in locating Murina’s parents who had been looking for her for weeks on end. A short time later, Murina and her family reunited for the first time in over a month!
Many of the women and girls living at the House of Hope have been separated from their families because of abuse and neglect. That was not the case with Murina—she was deeply loved and wanted! Even so, her story is a miracle. It’s no coincidence that God brought this sweet girl to a home where one of the staff members spoke her language and had connections in her community. We are so grateful that not only was Murina reunited with her family, but that the House of Hope was able to serve as a place of safety, love, and care for this young lady while they were separated!
