How to Embrace Your Season of Life

Everything comes down to priorities. Above all else, what is the one true calling God has placed on your heart? It's a question that deserves prayer and conversation with God.

I believe there are different seasons for different times in life. There’s a lot of things in my life right now – from baseball to television, to getting married, to so many other things. My family is a huge priority. My dad is battling certain things, and I want to spend time with him. But, at the end of the day, I believe the biggest priority in my life right now is God's calling to fight for people who can’t fight for themselves.

In the day to day business of parenting, taking care of your home, and those little things that you may think aren’t very impactful...I believe God uses your obedience in those times and prepares you for what's next!

What immediately comes to my mind is how faithful my mom was with those “little” things. There were five of us kids living in the Philippines; my dad was out there preaching and affecting thousands of lives. But my mom was doing equally as important a job for the Gospel, just by being at home, taking care of five kids by herself, loving them, and caring for them. She may not have always felt the best about it. Sometimes she felt like she wasn’t affecting the world the way my dad was.

But God used her story and her obedience, as well as the story of my birth, in so many different ways. Now my mom is in a new season of life as her first book, Ripple Effects, launches. She gets the chance to fly around the world, speaking and encouraging women with the story that God gave her. The reason she has that story is because she was faithful in a time where her every day didn’t feel important or meaningful, and when she wasn’t as equipped as she is now.

I believe with all my heart that all of us go through tough seasons in our lives, but I want to encourage you that those seasons aren’t meaningless, and they aren’t wasted.

There’s a purpose and plan for each season of life. Today, it may not be the season of reaping, but it might be a season of sowing. Sowing in your own heart, so that one day you’re ready for the season of reaping. So that you’re ready when God opens new doors for you. I know He’s doing something in your life right now where He’s saying "Trust Me, because I’m preparing you for something awesome."
