It’s not about building playrooms, but rather the lasting impact they have on every child who visits them. We believe that a Timmy’s Playroom can play an integral part in helping a child cope with an illness. Here are 5 ways that Timmy’s Playrooms help children heal…
God is Glorified
No medical treatment can compare to the healing power of the Great Physician. In Timmy’s Playrooms, children are reminded that they are in the loving hands of the Lord through the verse Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me,” which is displayed prominently in every room.
Play is Liberating
Through toys, video games, art or many other activities, Timmy’s Playrooms are an environment for relaxing and letting loose. The fully customized turf floors, wall wraps, custom lockers and fun football décor help patients take their minds off medical treatment and just be kids again.
Peers Encourage Each Other
When united with peers facing similar circumstances, many children find the strength to encourage one another even when they themselves might feel weak. Timmy’s Playroom provides an atmosphere and place for children to connect and support each other.
Refuge is Found
Being immersed in an environment entirely different from the surrounding hospital-scape allows patients and families to recenter themselves on neutral turf – literally. Families are also able to connect with other families walking their same path and share experiences, comfort and support.
Community is Created
