St. Louis resident, 16-year-old Adam Hubbs, meets with Tim Tebow.
Jacksonville, FL (October 13, 2011) – For 16-year-old Adam Hubbs, sports have been an important part of his life. Known as one of the fastest players on his pee wee football team, Hubbs always dreamed of the day he would play in front of thousands of fans as a professional football player. In 2008, the dream of stepping onto an official NFL field was diminished when he was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening blood disorder.
On Sunday at the Denver Broncos home game, Hubbs finally had that opportunity to step on the field he had always dreamed of, but now it was alongside his hero and inspiration, Tim Tebow.
In June 2011, Hubbs was given the opportunity to meet Tebow in Orlando at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Together they played catch, enjoyed attractions, and played arcade games. Following their time together, Tebow invited him to be his special guest at a future Denver Broncos game.
Through the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Wish 15 (W15H) program, in partnership with Dreams Come True of Jacksonville, Hubbs made unforgettable memories on Sports Authority Field at Mile High. He spent pregame on the field before meeting Tebow, the person whose inspiration helped him to overcome his obstacles and bring back the joy of playing football.
"It was so great to spend time with Adam again," said Tebow. "I am amazed by his strength, determination and positive attitude."
Since being diagnosed, Hubbs has faced many medical battles, including being in a coma for five weeks and suffering a stroke that would paralyze the left side of his body. He continues to recover from the effects of the stroke and hopes that the hard work and determination he has learned from Tebow will pave a path for him to play sports once again.
W15H was created to give an unforgettable wish experience for all children battling life- threatening illnesses whose wish is to meet Tebow. Hubbs’ experience included four fun-filled days of exclusive activities and gifts, beginning on Friday following his arrival in Denver with dinner and arcade games courtesy of Dave & Busters. On Saturday, he enjoyed a wonderful dinner provided by Denver’s Hard Rock Café. The highlight of the trip was on Sunday when he stood side by side with Tebow during the pregame warm-ups and then enjoyed the remainder of the game in terrific seats set up by the Denver Broncos.
During his time in Denver, Hubbs enjoyed picturesque views of the city and Sports Authority Field at Mile High from the window of his room at the Hyatt. He also did not leave Denver empty handed, as W15H provided him with a gift package that included exclusive W15H travel luggage, Tebow’s book, Through My Eyes, a Nike duffle bag, a gift card courtesy of Jockey and so much more.
